报告摘要:
Neuroendocrine axes provide ideal tractable model systems organized hierarchically involving multiple organs including nervous system and periphery to regulate biological processes and behavior, such as sexual motivation, reproductive behaviors, stress responsiveness, mood and emotions, energy storage and expenditure, etc. As a very active scientific field, the related researches expand our knowledge about how the nervous system and the periphery coordinate to maintain homeostasis and achieve optimal biological functioning. The investigation also provides the fundamental principle and experimental supports for new drug design, disease treatment, and heath care.
My primary research interests are the neural and endocrine mechanisms that drive motivated behaviors and their underlying physiology, as well as the pathological changes. My work investigates interactions among the circadian, nervous, endocrine, and reproductive systems. I will use the well-established animal models and genetic tools combining biochemical, molecular and behavioral approaches to study the mechanisms and interactions involved in the neuroendocrine and the master circadian pacemaker, the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) of the anterior hypothalamus.
