About the speaker

      Wan-Sheng Chen, Ph. D., professor, chief pharmacist, and doctoral supervisor, currently serves as the director of the Healthcare Security Center of the Clinical Research Center of Changzheng Hospital affiliated to Naval Medical University, and the director of the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Chen is also a member of the National Pharmacopoeia Committee, Vice Chairman of the Clinical Chinese Medicine Committee of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, Standing Committee and Secretary-General of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Committee of the Chinese Integrative Medicine Association, chairman of the Shanghai Society of Plant Physiology and Plant Molecular Biology, etc.

      Dr. Chen is mainly engaged in the research of functional ingredients and quality control of traditional Chinese medicine and has led more than 30 research projects, such as that funded by the National Key R&D Program and the National Natural Science Foundation. He has published more than 400 research papers, among which 170 papers were published in SCI international academic journals such as Nature Communications and Hepatology. Moreover, 27 national invention patents have been authorized, and four new drugs have been approved for clinical trials. He has been selected as the Distinguished Young Scholar funded by The National Science and Shanghai Chief Subject Scientist.
