About the Speaker
Professor Bai Lu, PhD of Cornell University Medical School, USA, postdoctoral fellow with Nobel Prize winner Paul Greengard, is now a tenure professor at the School of Pharmacy, Tsinghua University. He is an internationally renowned neuroscientist who has made a series of major discoveries in the fields of neurodevelopment, synaptic plasticity, brain cognition and brain diseases. His research has opened a new field by revealing the role of brain-derived neurotrophic factor BDNF in the regulation of synaptic transmission and plasticity, as well as learning and memory. He also found that variations in the BDNF gene regulate human scene memory and have implications for a variety of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
