Suzhou, China – The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Soochow University is pleased to announce the successful completion of a 12‑week research program conducted by two undergraduate students from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).

The two students, Joanne Gorman and Luke Doyle, participated in a dedicated international research program “Discover Jiangsu Soochow University Global Future Innovation Research Camp” designed to provide hands‑on scientific training in a world‑class academic environment. During their 12‑week stay at the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, they worked closely with faculty mentors and local peers, contributing to ongoing research in areas of pharmaceutical innovations. Upon returning to RCSI, the students completed their graduation requirements by presenting their work in a formal poster session and defending their projects before an academic panel. Their research achievements were well received, marking a successful conclusion to both the international research experience and their undergraduate studies.
“This collaboration reflects the strong and growing partnership between our two institutions,” said Prof. Xu Guoqiang, Vice Dean of the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences. “We are proud to have provided a supportive and stimulating research environment in Suzhou, and we congratulate the students on their outstanding presentations at RCSI.”
The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences looks forward to continuing and expanding this international research program, welcoming more undergraduate researchers from RCSI and other partner institutions. The success of this initiative further strengthens the College’s global connections and underscores its commitment to fostering international scientific talent.
The two students will formally graduate from RCSI this year, carrying with them the academic achievements and cross‑cultural insights gained during their time at Soochow University.
