Research Interests
q Quality Control, structural modification and new application of Heparins
Heparin related medicines inludes heparin, low molecular weight heparins, synthetic heparin oligosaccharides, Sulodexide, etc. They are all carbohydrate drugs with complicated compositions, structures and sequences, while they are widely used as anticoagulants in clinic. China is the major country to produce and export raw materials and API. The final products has also formed scales in China. Thus, they are very important medicines. Our lab has very rich experiences about heparin related materials, and we have helped several companies to get LMWHs production approved. Now we still focus on the innovative developments about new analytical methods, quality control, structural elucidation, strucutural modifications and new applications of them.
q Development of Carbohydrate drugs with chemical modification
Another research interest of our lab is development of carbohydrate drugs. We have deeply participated in the development of oligomannate, one of the most famous anti-AD medicines. We are now developing different oligouronic acid drugs for neuron-protection, oxidized maltose to carry Fe, some polysaccharide-based pharmaceutical excipients and so on.
q Structure activity relationship of TCM polysaccharides
The third interest of our lab is structure activity relationship of TCM polysaccharides. Polysaccharide is one of the most important active ingredients in TCM. The complexity of their structure and functional mechanism limit their applications. Our lab focuses on the elucidation of the complicated structures and the relationships between the structure and anti-biabetes, anti-inflammation, anti-oxidation, anti-cancer, et.al.
